How much do we pay our healthcare professionals?
Pay rates are typically calculated on an hourly basis; however, our pay rates are contingent upon various factors, including:

The pay rates for healthcare professionals in Ireland vary by location. Pay rates reflect the regional disparities in compensation within the healthcare industry across different Irish cities.

The hourly pay rate for Healthcare Professionals can differ greatly depending on the assigned work hours. For instance, a standard Monday to Friday shift from 7:30 to 19:30 typically pays less than shifts covering nights, weekends or bank holidays.

Our Healthcare Professionals receive their payments weekly through PAYE. We do not engage with umbrella companies, nor do we allow our nurses to be employed through a limited company structure or umbrella arrangement. Read more about getting paid.

At Obsidian Healthcare, you receive weekly payments provided your timesheet is submitted promptly. Our team is committed to processing payments with diligence to guarantee their timely disbursement. Additionally, we do not impose any administrative fees, allowing you to retain the maximum amount of your earnings.

As a PAYE worker, your tax and Pay Related Social Insurance (PRSI) and Universal Social Charge (USC) contributions are deducted from your pay rate, meaning that you don’t have to worry about ensuring that these payments are made – you simply receive a payslip as normal.

As an agency healthcare professional, you’re still entitled to holiday pay.
Statutory holiday entitlement provides 5.6 weeks of paid holiday (including bank holidays) in a 52-week working year (pro-rata). Obsidian Healthcare adds holiday pay to the basic hourly rate for all agency workers, currently equating to an additional 11.19% pay for each hour worked.

Occasionally, pay rates may vary for certain clients, and mileage may not be compensated for some locations. It is your responsibility to be aware of the pay and mileage rates before accepting a shift.
Obsidian Healthcare does not apply additional administrative fees.
Holiday pay is included in your hourly rate and paid to you on a weekly basis. Obsidian Healthcare urges all staff to take their agency paid holiday entitlement in full.
By accepting these terms, you agree that any such sums paid to you as holiday pay in addition to your hourly rate may be set off against any entitlement to receive statutory holiday pay during periods of annual leave.
Should there be any alterations in your duties or ward allocation during your placement, it is imperative to notify your dedicated consultant at once, as such changes may impact your pay. Adjustments made retrospectively may not be feasible.
When care is provided in a patient's own home, breaks will not be deducted if you are the sole worker present. For all other situations, standard breaks will be deducted. If taking a break is not feasible, please note this on your timesheet and have the signatory initial it.
Obsidian Healthcare strongly recommends that all agency workers secure professional indemnity insurance through personal membership in a recognised professional body or trade union.
Tax, PRSI and USC are deducted from the pay rates.
The information recorded on your timesheet should correspond with the shift details in our system. Workers will not receive payment for additional hours or a change in grade without prior authorisation from a client before the end of the shift.
